After more than a couple of months in the indian Himalaya, we crossed two regions of India, so often traveled and fantasized by the tourists, but also very different, in order to get our own idea on them. Following the sacred Ganga river, mother of all Hindus, we reached the city of Varanasi, also called Benares during the colonial era. Entirely dedicated to Shiva, it is a city where all the pilgrims come to prey, perform ablutions, and wash-up their sins and even... die. Finally, it is throughout the main cities of Rajasthan, from Jaïpur to Jaisalmer, that we tried to stay away from the biggest "clichés" related to the ancient times of the maharajas and to get as close as possible to the actual inhabitants of Rajasthan.
