In the northern part of India, Kashmir is still under heavy military activity and shaken by combats between indian and Pakistani armies. Mostly muslim, this magnificent region is nestled between the Karakorum and the western Himalaya mountains, thus benefiting of fertile soil and abundant water : majestic lakes and glacial torrents amidst lush plains and snowy mountaintops. After an exhausting train ride towards the Kashmir valleys, we followed thousands of Hindus all along the "Amarnath Yatra", amazing pilgrimage in the Kashmir mountains, dedicated to Shiva. Once this unique and impressive experience was over, we stopped a few days in Srinagar, also called the "Venice of Orient".
