FORT COCHIN

Rich of an important colonial past, the city of Fort Cochin is a historical town of the state of Kerala where Portuguese, Dutch and Chinese influences mix. Built on a peninsula of the tropical coast of Malabar, bordering the Lakshadweep sea, this fishing port benefits from the rich fishing resources of southern India. The majority of its inhabitants live from the sea, either fishing on the huge Chinese square dipping nets along the beach or aboard their traditional canoes. During the hot summer days, the sandy beach also attracts many Indian tourists who come with their families or between friends to seek a little freshness, taste dairy ice creams or slip into the waves…
